4-0 …And the fall of Justin!

October 12, 2006 · 7 Comments

Wednesday evening, Denmark was playing Lichtenstein in the qualifying rounds of the European Football Championship 2008. For a change, I wasn’t working on a game day, so the evening was spend the way these evenings usually are: At the Uboat, watching the game on the big screen, having a few beers with my friends.

The day started surprisingly early as we had a meeting with the student body (which I’m evidently part of now) at campus, discussing the upcoming years and assigning new people to leading positions. When the meeting finished at around 4:30 PM, I didn’t really feel like going home, so I just stayed behind and hung out with a few friends at the Uboat, setting up tables and chairs for the evening to come and having a few beers and a general good time. Before long, people started showing up, among them Justin and a few of his friends, claiming that they were there to get drunk and obnoxious.

I left at a little past 5 to grab something to eat and when I returned almost an hour later with a durum (which it took three people 25 minutes to prepare – and they still managed to give e a burned yet cold durum consisting mostly of a 50/50 split of kebab and onions.. Not cool! You can do better than that, Alanya!) I could tell that Justin was indeed working on the getting drunk part. At any rate he was throwing down a surprising amount of Fine Festival (Danish extra strong lager) .. Well, a surprising amount for Justin anyways. It must’ve worked for him because at this time, he was sitting outside with his laptop playing online poker in a thin shirt while the rest of us were moving inside as the cold was getting too much for us.

Once inside, I spend some time talking to the others and just hanging out before I once again had to get moving as I had promised to pick up Emelie from the train station. This went pretty well, if you don’t consider me getting sprayed with water by a couple of renovation workers on the way down there and the train being considerably late.. Eh, at any rate we made it back to the Uboat in time for kickoff and managed to secure a table with Tina and a few other girls up front.. This proved to be a mistake as it put us right in front of a table occupied by Justin, Kristian and a few other not quite sober gentlemen. In fact, I believe they managed to spill two or three beers in the time that it took for Emelie and I to get from our seats, to the bar and back again.. Lovely!

This was only the start, though, once we got to our seats, it took Justin about five minutes to start pestering the girls at our table with not so subtle pick up lines and what have you.. Not that it really earned him anything, partly because he was covered in beer from the spilling incident and partly because they really weren’t buying into it and he didn’t know when to stop. At any rate, I had a good time watching him getting bashed. All in all, the first 20-some minutes of the game wasn’t too bad, aside from being sprayed with beer every now and then when Justin and friends decided to express their dismay with the Danish players by banging their open bottles into the table between them.

It wasn’t before the first Danish goal that things started to get a little crazy.. The general rule at the Uboat is that whenever Denmark scores, beers a half price for the next five minutes. With two Danish goals in five mins and six drunken guys behind us, you can pretty easily do the math.. At any rate, they managed to completely fill the table between them with unopened beer bottles! :D I swear, sometimes being relatively sober and just watching others getting hammered can be more fun that getting wasted yourself.. As long as you manage to stay out of the line of fire, of course. In the matter of the next hour or so, our drunken friends managed to knock over a table, fall over, knock down several more bottles.. And of course send several sprays of beer flying every other minute. Also, Justin received more than a few warnings from special guest referee Kristian for once again trying to get too friendly with people who really didn’t want his attention.

By the time the game had finished, 4-0 in favor of Denmark, Kristian and Justin were singing loudly, passing some sort of trophy, they’d found somewhere and filled with beer, between them and taking huge gulps of it, yelling “CHAAARGE!” at the top of their lungs as they did. All while Justin was trying to tell me how guys with glasses and curly hair shouldn’t be playing football, maintaining, of course, that this was nothing personal against me.

After the game, I spend a few good hours talking to friends and having a few more beers, I had a few more memorable moments with Justin.. At one time, he decided to just stand behind the bar, staring evilly at me At another time, I ran into him in the bathroom where he tore into a drunken rant about exactly how drunk he was and exactly how many beers he had purchased for the weekend (I’m not sure if he ever settled on the exact number, somwhere between 2 million and a thousand billion!). Last but not least he was spotted staggering back to the Uboat, hanging onto poor Emelie for dear life, unable to walk on his own before tumbling into a chair and having a hard time just sitting up straight.. I think we should all get together and compliment Justin for once again reaching his goal of being the drunkest, most annoying, loudest and most unpopular person at the party! ;)

I’m not really sure what happened to Justin or how he got home but by the time Emelie and I left, he had apparently vanished and according to Penny (who happens to be Justin’s roommate)  a half-empty glass of Nesquick was spottet at their apartment this morning with the remainder of the contents spilled on the table and floor, so he must’ve gotten home somehow..

As for us, the night ended at around 1:30 AM when Emelie and I crashed back at my place after an evening well spend in the company of friends and a few hillarious drunks.

What about me? I had to sit next to the boy? :)
It’s weird, but he seems to pick me, to be his “talk-buddy” during some of his drunken-times, when I’m lucky enough to be there at the same time that is…
    Thanks to “rus-tur” hehe…
But he’s a good boy… See how he’s trying to cover up his blonde hair? Justin, dude… you can’t escape from your personality… ;)

    Well hey, Mette! :)

Haha.. Poor thing. Drunken Justin’s “talk-buddy”, that’s great ;) But yea, like you said, he’s a good boy and his drunken talks and rants can be quite entertaining!

And really, Justin’s not blonde anymore? I never noticed :P
