Random drunken rants

They’re HOW much? (Screw you, Mr. Hilfiger)

I’ve got yet another confession to make.. In the words of Marilyn Manson; “I’ve become everything I ever hated”.. See, I bought new shoes a couple of days ago.. And no, not just any shoes.. No, designer shoes, mind you.. Fucking expensive designer shoes to boot.. Just how expensive can shoes get, you may be asking (if you’re anything like me and have no greater insight in the world of shoes, anyways).. Well.. *cough* DKK 1299, if you must know.. (yes, that is well in excess of $200)..

Now, before you start pointing fingers, getting the lynching gear out or labeling me a sell-out, give me just five minutes to explain my reasoning.. See, first of all, I can’t really always be arsed to shop for clothes and don’t give two shits about fashion and what have you, so for the day I’d teamed up with Tina who’s much better in that field and had previously (as in months ago) more or less insisted that I needed new shoes (rightfully so) and that she were to help pick them out.. So, I thought it’d be fine to have her help me out.. Which it was, really..

We got to have fun, hang out, goof off and get some much needed shoes as well. We initially passed by the first Ecco store we passed, my reasoning being that ECCO shoes were too fucking expensive. We then wandered into a more reasonably priced looking store and started browsing around with Tina doing most of the browsing around and pulling pairs of shoes off the shelves and me just sorta being there, either nodding my head or shaking it in disgust. Eventually, after just long enough to make me bored with the process, Tina pulled a pair of black Tommy Hilfiger shoes off the shelf and had me try them on.. I did, initially liked the fit and thought they looked pretty flashy as well.. Tina, in return were swooning all over the place, telling me I needed these shoes and was even snapping pictures for Louise who wasn’t around for the ride.

At this point I was like “yea, let’s just get these shoes and move on, shall we?” .. Then I looked at the price and was like “1299? What the FRIG?!” and started tearing into a long rant about over-priced brands and their influences on society. Tina wanted none of this and started retaliating with proper arguements about the quality of the leather, their fit and the fact that with my current clothing budget, 1299 wasn’t gonna tip anything.. Adding to this the fact that I was being rapidly pulled towards the register by both Tina and helpful clerks, it was bound to happen.. And it did.. Feeling utterly disgusted with myself, I threw down my VISA card and bought the DKK 1299 pair of shoes.. Though I nearly changed my mind when they even charged me for the DKK 50 tin of polish to go along with them.. Fuckers! Really!

Grumbling to myself as we exited the store, I foolishly thought that things were gonna end here.. But, alas, or, dare I say, of course, they didn’t.. New shoes so call for new jeans and so the hunt went on. Luckily, though, we managed to locate a store who had a 70% off sale on Hilfiger denim and just one pair left in my size which was kinda lucky, I guess.. Coz DKK 300 jeans sound so much more reasonable than DKK 1299 shoes.. So, you kinda redeemed yourself there, Tommy.  Following this more uplifting experience, the hunt was now on for a belt and other accessories.

With my constant complaining about designer brands and pricing, Tina and I were now pretty much bickering left and right, each of us trying to plead our case to the other and what have you. This must’ve confused quite a few store clerks as I’m sure we sounded a hell of a lot like an old married couple yet kept making references to our girlfriend and boyfriend, respectively, which seemed to confuse people a little.. But we eventually did get what we came for and I went home, some total DKK 2000 poorer, muttering various pieces of profanity and cursing myself under my breath for having so thoroughly ignored my principles.. I do like my new shoes, though.. And people tell me they look good.. Well, people except Dunkel who just had a laugh on my behalf, but hey, I half way expected that to happen.. Sheesh, I really do hope I won’t have to buy new shoes for at least a couple of years now, that way they’d at least seem somewhat worth the price ;)

Thank you Tina! Thank you! ;)

There you’ve got it – now you can’t bicker about me (or Tina) using too much money on clothes etc.

    I can, and I will :P

I still feel like an assclown for using 1299 on a pair of fucking shoes.. Regardless of whether you lot think I need to spoil myself every now and then ;)

My mom was, by the way, greatly upset as well.. Not so much because of the price but because I bought them regardless of the fact that they charged me for the polish..

Ohh dear Lord! I’m so close to start ranting about her weird behaviour!

Wha? I rather thought she was making sense for a change.. Charging people for a 50 kroner tin of polish along-side a 1299 kroner pair of shoes fucking cheap..

Yeah… but still what’s it to her to get upset about how you use your money anyways…?

I don’t reckon she did? She just thought it was bad service on behalf of the clerk?

Ahh, wasn’t really what you wrote – or at least the way I understod it…
