Wondering what a 100 x 100 is? Well, duh, it’s a burger with 100 patties and 100 slices of cheese between two softly toasted buns.. In-N-Out apparently let you order any number of patties you wanted in your burgers.. Up until this stunt anyways. Apparently now the largest size is 4×4 which I can tell from experience is still quite enough for the average guy.

I mean, c’mon, it’s funny, pseudo-geeky and it involves BACON! Mmm.. Bacon! Also, this should answer any questions you may have as to why Tina and I have become such close friends particularly as of late.. How can you not love a girl who forwards you jokes involving bacon, the mightiest of all spices?

In more personal news, I think I’m more or less ready for my exam on Tuesday. I actually sorta took to heart Zascha’s comments about me being frighteningly indifferent when it comes to preparing oral presentations/defenses, so I hope she’ll be happy to know I at least tried this time around.. Even if, for me, that means working into the night and sleeping through to mornings.

Speaking of working through the night. Why is it that it’s once again nearing 4 AM and I’m still not in bed? I feel like some strange breed of nocturnal animal these days.. More so that I used to, and believe you me, I used to go to bed late. It’ll probably be healthy for me to go back to school soon and get some sort of normal rhythm going for me. Not that I particularly mind being nocturnal, it’s just that everybody else does.. Ack, but I’m stalling.. It’s off to bed I go! Tomorrow (and by tomorrow I mean Tuesday, this being posted at 3:46 AM Monday) is exam day! Woo!

So, things are really picking up as regards the whole America Votes kinda thing. In the current debate about who is more suitable for office, few comments have made me laugh more than the one re-posted below. This is my friend Rachel’s assessment of the candidates and whom to root for:

Apparently it’s *vegetarian* as well.. So there you go. With the option of having bacon on the salad bar, I guess there’s nothing that really prevents me from becoming a full blown vegetarian (again!).

By the way, if you don’t get a word of the ramblings above, do not despair. That was about four internal inside jokes aimed at about four different people. Just take it as a sign that you know me well if you get at least one of them, if you bet more than one, you’ve evidently spent too much time with me and should consider professional help Speaking of internal inside jokes, Tina, it looks like your favorite actor is celebrating his birthday today.

A margin for error..

So, more or less out of morbid curiosity, I decided to check my online banking account yesterday just to sorta find out how much money I’ve blown lately. To my surprise, I found the balance to be a little off.. Well, a lot off, actually, in that it was substantially higher than I expected. Curious, and confuddled, I investigated further, taking a look at the account details and discovering the rather peculiar movement.. Namely the sudden addition of just over DKK 20,000 to my account.

Errm.. Clearly one of my employers thinks my time is worth a lot of money, as they made a rather substantial deposit into my account. I mean, as much as I think that my time is worth about 100 bucks an hour, clearly something was bound to be wrong when they decided to pay me something along the lines of DKK 37,000+ (USD 6,000+) before taxes for two months of me working part time 8 hours a week.. But I must commend them on paying me so swiftly, they did so before I had even submitted the needed paper work to account for my hours spent on the project. Scratching my head, I decided it was time for bed before giving the pay office a ring in the morning.

The nice, little lady at the pay office, as it turns out, was quite happy to hear from me the next day. Upon hearing my explanation, she sounded completely taken aback for about ten seconds, but was then more than happy to confirm my suspicion that their math was, in fact, a bit off. As a matter of fact it turned out that they, for some reason, had me registered as a normal employee, not a part time student assistant.. Huh?

Well, long story short, despite me telling her about how my nearest superior had already (after hearing about the incident) congratulated me on my doctoral and in so swiftly overtaking him in terms of pay, she concluded that the money were probably not mine to keep and I agreed that I had probably better transfer them back once my proper pay had been worked out. In the end that does save me the trouble of having to pay back my student grant plus penalty fees as well as extra taxes, so I’d like to think that both parties are better off with me returning the money. Even if DKK 20,000 buys you quite a lot of shiny new Apple laptop goodness. Oh well, can’t win every time, and with a little luck, I’ll be able to keep about a fourth of it.

Speaking of margins for error, there were none at the health and hygiene inspection at the Student House today.. But that’s okay, we didn’t need one. I’m happy to report that we passed with flying colors!
