Wow, so apparently there’s already a video out for Metallica’s newest single, “The Day That Never Comes”. More surprisingly still, it’s directed by a Dane! And not just any Dane.. Thomas Vinterberg of Festen fame to be exact which I reckon is pretty awesome.
It’s midnight here at HQ and we are incredibly proud to present you with the debut of “The Day That Never Comes” …not so much the standard video fare, but what we like to think of as a short film. We were honored to work with acclaimed film director and fellow Dane Thomas Vinterberg, as our goal with this song was to step outside of the usual every day music video box and into to the world of film. As you may have seen here earlier, we shot it outside of Los Angeles a month ago and we hope that you are as blown away by Thomas’ vision as we are.
It’s, sadly, not that good in my opinion, but it’s good to see the boys back.. And I’ll have to admit that their new work is sorta growing on me.. It’s not classic Metallica, but it probably is their best effort since …And Justice For All .. That is if you, like me, think “The Black Album” was a mistake.. If not you’ll probably argue it’s the best since Black.. I’ll not go so far as to hit it with my offical stamp of awesomeness yet, coz it’s far from.. But it’s a welcome change.. And lightyears better than St Anger!
